Touch Panel

Touch panels are a type of data input technology which allows users to interact with an electronic device through the screen. They work by detecting the pressure and location of touches on the surface of the screen.
There are several types of touch panels, being capacitive and resistive types the most common ones.

Capacitive touch panels work by detecting the alteration of the electrical charge on the surface of the screen when touched with a finger, while resistive touch panels work through the detection of the pressure exerted on the surface of the screen.

Touch panels also include having a custom laminated glass (cover glass), and can be designed to adapt to the specific needs of a product or application (cosmetic and / or practical, for example, impact resistance according to IKxx).

These cover glasses can also have surface treatments, such as AG (Anti-glare), AF (Anti-fingerprint) or AR (Anti-reflective).

Did you know it?

When the first capacitive touchscreens were developed in the 80s, many users complained of cramping, and the technology was parked aside for a while.

Although Apple was not the next company to market touch panels, it was its first iPhone the one relaunching the product; now essential in any electronic device.
