TFT-LCD

TFT (Thin Film Transistor) displays are a type of advanced LCD display that uses thin-film transistors to control the polarization of the liquid crystals in each pixel. This results in better image quality, with higher resolution and better contrast ratio.

There are two main types of TFT displays:

On one side, we have the TFT TN (Twisted Nematic) Displays: These displays work by applying an electric field to the liquid crystals in the panel, which then change orientation to display different colors. This kind of displays are known for their fast response time, making them ideal for applications that require real-time display of moving images. However, one of the main drawbacks of TFT TN displays is their limited visibility from angles other than vertical, which can result in significant loss of image quality when viewed from steeper angles

On the other hands, we have the TFT IPS (In-Plane Switching) Displays: These screens use an in-plane switching technique to improve image quality and visibility from different angles. They are ideal for applications that require detailed representation of information and clear visibility from wide angles, such as computer monitors, televisions, etc.

In general, TFT displays are a popular and versatile choice for a wide range of electronic products due to their excellent image quality, ability to display brilliant colors, and ease of use.

Besides, TFTs (as well as other displays), can be combined with customized touch panels and cover glasses, to create a full stacked module, saving costs end enhancing the system robustness. Other adjacent add-ons such as the FPC and the frame can also be designed according to each customer needs, making ECA able to provide a full customized solution.

Did you know it?

TFT technology took a qualitative leap when in 1974, T. Peter Brody and Fang Chen Luo developed the active matrix, being able to control each pixel individually.
