PMOLED

PMOLED (Passive Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays are a type of OLED display in which the pixels are controlled by a passive matrix. Instead of having an active structure of rows and columns to control the energy of the pixels, PMOLED displays have a simpler and less expensive structure.

They work by applying electrical current to organic materials on the panel, which emit light to form an image. As a result, PMOLED screens can be very thin and light, and do not require an external light source like LCD screens.

The main advantages of PMOLED displays include fast response time, wide color gamut, and high contrast ratio.

These displays are used in a wide variety of electronic products, including mobile phones, wearables, fitness trackers, and in small monitors and displays for industrial and medical applications, among others.

OLED screens were first developed by Kodak, using them in their cameras. At its peak in 2006, more than 72 million PMOLED displays were manufactured worldwide.
